My newly wedded cousin was looking to work with me to renovate his father's basement office into a kitchen, which would be part of transforming the bottom floor into a new suite for the two. The area featured 3' to 4' high shelves 1' deep from the wall in certain areas that would help to determine best placements for counters and appliances. The couple desired something compact and efficient, while keeping the expected full service of a kitchen.
